ProxyAI

Instagram AI Chatbot

Answer Instagram direct messages automatically. There are two routes in, signing in with Instagram itself, or the manual one where messages arrive through the Facebook Page your Instagram account is linked to.

DMs are where the buying questions land

On Instagram the product question rarely arrives as a comment. It arrives as a DM, often out of hours, and often about something already answered on your site. The assistant answers those from the same documents your website bot uses, which is the point of connecting a channel rather than running a separate bot per platform.

Two routes, different prerequisites

Signing in with Instagram involves no Facebook Page at all. The advanced route uses your own Meta application and the Page your Instagram account is linked to, which is more setup but keeps everything inside an app you control. The dialog shows which is available to you rather than leaving you to find out by trying.

What connecting Instagram involves

  • Two Ways In
  • After Connecting: Allow Access to Messages
  • The Manual Route
  • Test It
  • The 24-Hour Rule

Instagram questions we get asked

Does my Instagram account need to be a business account?
Yes. Instagram's messaging API is only available to professional accounts, which is Meta's rule rather than ours.
Can it reply to comments as well as DMs?
The channel covers direct messages. Comments are a different Meta permission and are not part of it.
Will customers know it is a bot?
That is up to you, the assistant's name and tone are yours to set in the bot's identity settings.
