What the Plugin Is
The ProxyAI plugin adds a chat assistant to your WordPress site and puts the whole of ProxyAI inside wp-admin: bot setup, channels, add-ons, hand-off inbox, tickets, usage and rates. On a WooCommerce store it can also read the catalogue and build the shopper's cart.
No account or card is needed beforehand. Connecting creates an account tied to this domain, and the chatbot itself is free. Connecting adds no credit; credit comes with the plan you choose in setup.
Before You Connect
Your site must be live on the public internet, over HTTPS. When you press Connect, ProxyAI calls your site straight back to confirm the domain is really yours, so a site running only on your own computer, or behind a password, cannot connect.
WooCommerce is optional. Without it the assistant is a content chatbot, and the cart and order-lookup features stay off.
Connect
- Install and activate the plugin, search for ProxyAI under Plugins → Add New, or get it from the plugin page on WordPress.org.
- Open ProxyAI in the wp-admin menu.
- Read what connecting sends, the site address, name, administration email, WordPress and WooCommerce versions, permalink setting and plugin version, then choose Connect to ProxyAI.
Nothing leaves your site before you press that button. While connected, your site checks in every six hours with the same version information, which is how your dashboard stays in step with the site and the add-ons you own.
Your posts and pages are sent only if you buy the Knowledge add-on. Disconnecting stops all of it.
First-Run Setup
The dashboard opens a three-step guide.
1. Check your site. There is nothing to switch on, the plugin puts the chat button on every page for you, with no theme edit and no shortcode. Open your site and look. If it is missing, a caching plugin or your CDN is almost always serving an old copy of the page; clear the cache and reload.
2. Choose add-ons. Pick one of two plans, and either one unlocks every add-on for WordPress: Bot Knowledge, Abuse Guard, Human Handoff, Helpdesk Connect, WooCommerce Store and Agent Tasks.
- Free unlocks all of them with a small Powered by ProxyAI line under your chat box, plus $1 of trial credit, once per account.
- Deal is $69, one time, paid by card or PayPal without leaving wp-admin. It unlocks the same add-ons with no badge, gives you $69 of AI credits, and adds priority support and a commercial license.
Neither is a subscription and nothing renews. All sales are final once credits start being used.
3. Try it out. The chat in the corner of the setup page is the real widget.
Reopen the guide any time from the account menu (bottom of the sidebar) → Settings → Setup guide → Reset onboarding. Choosing a locked entry in the sidebar reopens it on the plan step.
The Dashboard
The plugin has the same sidebar as the web dashboard, with your bot's name at the top:
- Dashboard is where every visit lands: an Account card with your site address, a Credits card with your balance and Top up, and a spend chart with a breakdown of what the spend went on.
- Help Center opens this site.
- Configurations: Bot Identity, Bot Knowledge, Abuse Guard, Channels and Store actions. Store actions holds the widget switch and content sync, and with the WooCommerce Store add-on the cart switches too.
- Add-ons: Hand-off (Inbox, Settings), Helpdesk (Ticket Inbox, Agent Mode, Settings) and Agent Tasks (Overview, Agents, Library, Connectors, Run Log, Settings). Ticket Inbox and Agent Mode appear only when Helpdesk Connect is using the built-in desk. See Working the Tickets Board.
- Account menu (bottom of the sidebar): Usage & costs, everything your bot has spent, item by item; Model rates, your rates and a calculator for estimating a month of traffic; ProxyAI Support, to reach us; and Settings.
Settings holds usage alerts, product updates and offers, the setup guide, and Disconnect this site. The bottom of the screen shows the plugin version and says WooCommerce detected when it is active, both worth mentioning if you ever contact support.
An add-on your plan has not unlocked yet is greyed out; choosing it reopens the plan step.
Two things called support: the Ticket Inbox is your visitors' queue, ProxyAI Support is how you reach us.
Channels Beyond Your Site
The plugin does not confine the bot to your website. In Configurations → Channels you can connect WhatsApp, Telegram, LINE, Messenger, Instagram or Discord exactly as on the web dashboard. The Web channel is already configured for this site.
WooCommerce Features
With the WooCommerce Store add-on the assistant reads your live catalogue, reports in-stock or out-of-stock status, adds items to the shopper's own cart, sends checkout links on chat channels, and looks up a guest's order from an order number and billing email. The WooCommerce Store Guide covers the switches and their requirements.
Order lookup only answers when the order number and billing email belong to the same order, never mentions anyone else's order, and blocks repeated wrong guesses from the same place.
Knowledge Sync
With the Bot Knowledge add-on the plugin sends the address, title and text of your published posts, pages and products, so the bot can answer from them, and keeps that up to date as you publish, edit and delete. Drafts, private posts, password-protected posts and anything in the trash are never sent. To stop a specific page from being used, unpublish it or move it to draft, the bot drops it on the next sync. Need something removed right away? Open Bot Knowledge and remove the document from there.
A Ticket Form on Any Page
With Helpdesk Connect on the built-in desk, add a support-ticket form to any page: insert the ProxyAI Support Tickets block in the editor, or paste the [proxyai_tickets] shortcode. Signed-in customers get the form; logged-out visitors are asked to log in.
Hiding or Disconnecting
Configurations → Store actions → Chat bubble on your site stops the widget loading for visitors while leaving your bot, add-ons, credits and conversations untouched. Turning it back on needs nothing else.
Settings → Disconnect this site (account menu) ends the connection completely: the chat stops appearing, the site stops checking in, and nothing further is sent.
Test It
- Open your site in a normal browser tab and confirm the chat button appears.
- Ask something your bot should know.
- On WooCommerce, ask about a real product, then add it to the cart and check the cart page.
- With Human Handoff, ask for a person and confirm the conversation appears in Add-ons → Hand-off → Inbox.
- Check Usage & costs in the account menu, those turns should all be listed.
If the chat appears for you but not for visitors, suspect page caching first, a cached copy of the page saved before the plugin was connected will not have it.
