Web Chat

Web connection walkthrough

Open the Web Channel

Open Configurations → Channels in the dashboard sidebar. Channels are a grid of cards, one per platform. On the Web card choose Configure; the settings open in a dialog.

Every card carries a three-dot menu with the same three items:

  • Reset clears the fields in that channel's dialog so you can enter a fresh set. Nothing stored is replaced until you Save.
  • Recheck tells you the channel's current state. For Web it confirms whether a website is on file.
  • Disable is not available yet. To stop the widget, remove the code from your site.

Domain

Enter the website allowed to show this chatbot, such as app.example.com. Only the sites you list here can use the bot.

Adding several sites: separate them with commas, shop.example.com, www.example.com. Update the list whenever the bot goes on a new address, including a test site.

You can save without filling this in, and ProxyAI warns you when you do: any website could then run your bot and spend your credits. Leave it blank only while you are still setting up.

If what you type is not a valid website address, ProxyAI refuses to save it rather than quietly accepting it, an accepted typo would leave your bot open to everyone.

Icon

The Icon control beside the domain field sets the picture on the chat button. PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 2MB. Hover the picture to replace or remove it. Large images are fine; they are resized for you.

Starter Chips

Starter chips are the tappable suggestions shown before a visitor types anything. Type a suggestion and choose Add for each one, keep them short and match what people usually want, such as Pricing, Track my order, or Contact support.

Add the Widget to Your Site

  1. Find Embed Code Block at the bottom of the dialog.
  2. Choose Copy, the button inside the code box.
  3. Paste the whole thing into your website, just before the closing </body> tag. Most site builders have a place for this, often called *custom code*, *header and footer scripts* or *code injection*. If someone else looks after your site, send them the copied text and that instruction.
  4. Publish the page.
  5. Choose Save in ProxyAI.

The chat button then looks after itself: it stays on top of other floating buttons, survives pages that redraw themselves, and retries once if it fails to load the first time.

The copied code is specific to one chatbot. Always copy it from the bot you mean to use, never reuse another bot's or another account's.

Changes Go Live on Save

Name, greeting, icon, starter chips and the site list all go live when you Save. Reload the page with the widget on it to see them; there is nothing else to publish.

Test It

  • Open your website and confirm the chat button appears.
  • Try every starter chip.
  • Ask something the bot should know, then something it should not.
  • Confirm the greeting and the reply limit match Bot Identity.
  • If the chat opens but answers nothing, check the page's address is in the domain list, a site that is not listed is turned away.
  • If the chat button never appears, confirm the whole snippet is in the page and that the page was actually published. If your site uses caching, clear it and reload.
